SUKH KNIGHT BORN INVINCIBLE TRUE TIGER TTR012

After months of heavy support from the Underground's tastemakers, the debut EP from dubstep producer extraordinaire Sukh Knight is set to hit shelves on 12th May. Marking the way as True Tiger's first vinyl foray into Dubstep (having previously featured in conjunction on releases with labels such as Kraken and Destructive) the Born Invincible EP is an indication of things to come from the label and producer. The list of supporters of Sukh Knight reads as a who's who of electronic music's royalty - Sinden, Hatcha, N-Type, Mary Anne Hobbs, Ras Kwame and many more. Plastician closed the night at a recent legendary DMZ event, giving you an idea of the impact this debut has made.

The EP itself takes a trip through Sukh's inspirations and talent, and has given True Tiger the opportunity to really exercise the modern approach to marketing exciting underground music. The highly sought after Born Invincible, after months of exclusive play from Dubstep's top echelon, has now been graced with a video to celebrate Sukh's love of old kung fu films that inspired the tune. Jinglist has been one of the repeated anthems on radio and at raves for the past 5 months, with its thudding bassline and eerie atmospherics. Finally Sukh Knight brings one of the UK's hottest artists Badness on board to lace Shooting Stars, combining an element of dubstep's old roots with the new jump up style of Dubstep that has emerged in the past two years.

CEASE / SELFSIMILAR UPPER LEFT / RISE SHIFT RECORDS SHIFT001

"Upper Left Side"
The debut of Drum N Bass' beloved Cease, this one is a hard-as-nails smasher through and through. This monster is led by a growling, glitchy reese that drives this beast of a tune into an earth-shattering bass drop. Paired with the punishing breaks and lethal edits guarantees a huge reaction every time its played. Completely relentless, this one is for the dancefloor...

"Rise"
The breakthrough hit for Seattle's own Selfsimilar, this one lives up to its name, promising a rise from every floor it hits. Starting off with chilled chords and a commanding break, this one twists itself into a futuristic bass drop making every body in the club move. With its cyborg melody and mutated Bassline, this one lives up to the hype.

ANTIHIFI LA CORPORATION / UNITED STATES... DUB TECHNIC DT007

A division of Expressillon; Dub Technic was started in 2000 for the more electro dub beats. The idea behind the label was to provide artists an alternative platform to release their down tempo sonorous experiences.
Dub Technic signed his birth certificate via three first ep?s and two cd albums by improvisation master 69db followed by widely known in France electro dub bands General Dub, Lab° and Brain Damage, before slowing down for a while. In 2008 we saw fit to reactivate the label to give up and coming talent a platform to the Dubstep scene.
Just like the permanent boiling Italian alternative scene, Antihifi is an eccentric composer from Roma multiplying the artistic initiatives. After a remarkable first appearance in 2004 with his breakbeat & techno orientated project cUPo, he pays a second visit to Expressillon but this time on Dub Technic for a devastating dubstep 4 tracker.
Dark moody music, sparse rhythms, propelled by a constant, almost omnipresent sub bass are the components of side A, taking the on-line rhythmic evidences of test card to by-pass them better, for a maximum dancefloor efficiency. ?Electric Lazy? and ?We are in the Future? take on a more melodic delicious side ending by a cry from the heart to whom it may concern: ?Let me be your secret lover??.

HEKTAGON MALEVOLENCE / WE WILL SEE AUDIO FREAKS AF003pt1

Hot on the heels of 002 comes two brand spanking new killer cuts from the Audiofreaks camp provided by rising producer Hektagon, who follows up his previous release with stunning results.
The A side is the deeply sinister and twisted ?We Will See?. Twisted Indian classical textures and haunting vocals set the scene nicely, this tune is all about darkness!
Ethnic percussion creeps in and takes us to a perfectly crafted drop that gives you just enough time to take a breath before monstrous subs and growling bass synths kick in to deliver the final blow. Dirt!
Side B shows us why Hektagon is carving a space in dubstep all to himself. Malevolence is a tough, halfstep stomper that will make your teeth rattle. Beautifully delayed pad hits sit on top of a latin beat and a teasing of the bassline to come. Dubby reverbed snares lead us up to a sneaky drop that just oozes menace. Trademark Hektagon synth work sits astride this creeping skanker that is the perfect cure for the recent spate of jump-up inspired dubstep.

LOAN Vs. RIMSHOT END OF NEGOTIATION NCOUNTERZ NCOUNTER002

The nCounterz series are a sub-project of the I.O.T. labels, which main purpose is to join intergalactic forces with other like-minded labels on split EPs. For this second instalment, they team up with Torsion records, also hailing from Marseille downtown area, and give out 2 monster tracks of high octane dubstep induced beats ?
Arok, already known for his mental yet dancefloor tracks released on I.O.T. vinyls and CDs, and Probe1 from Torsion records, deliver « The hunt », a half tempo epic travel towards spaces where dubstep, glitch, and breaks influences melt shamelessly at 130 bpm.
The second assault is peak time tunage from Loan (whose first album will be released in 2008 on DTC records), and Rimshot (one half of the Interlope duo, signed on Expressillon records). « End of negociation » illustrates how an exquisite arpeggiator and a devastating bassline can serve no compromise in styles.
